Naobes Is Proudly Namibian, Wednesday, 27th of August 2008

By Staff Reporter

WINDHOEK

After three days of the reality show BB3 or Big Brother Africa 3, many Namibians are still left with more questions than answers on Namibia’s contestant Lucille Naobes.

The 21-year-old Windhoek born resident grabbed attention when she became the sixth contestant to enter the Big Brother Africa House, and with that, she heralded the start of a journey to the ultimate prize of fame, success and a possible U$ 100 000 in cash.

Naobes is described by those who know her as proudly Namibian. She entered Big Brother Africa for the experience and says that audiences should watch her on the show because she “will surely make someone laugh or cry”.

A fan of reality TV, she also enjoys the hit television series Ugly Betty. Having studied Travel and Tourism, she’d love to visit Monaco and lists a trip to London as one of her favourite experiences, specifically seeing the Big Ben and the London Eye, revealed Wil-Merie Howard on behalf of Multichoice Namibia.

Asked to describe her most embarrassing moment, Lucille is open and says, “Almost every day I embarrass myself!”

She reveals that the best advice she was ever given was by a friend –
“hate in your heart will only consume you”. One of her proudest achievements, according to Howard, is when she completed a gruelling hike of the Fish River Canyon.

After school, Naobes joined a relative in the great city of London, where she was employed in the restaurant industry for six months before returning to Namibia to pursue her studies in tourism. She is also a former Delta Secondary School learner.

A fan of musicians Freshly-Ground and Malaika, Naobes’ favourite movie is the quirky classic Moulin Rouge which stars her favourite actress Nicole Kidman.

Noabes is also an avid reader describing reading as one way to relax for her. Her favourite book is given as Angela’s Ashes.

Angela’s Ashes is an autobiography by Irish Author Frank McCourt and tells the story of his childhood in Brooklyn and Ireland. It was published in 1996 and won the Pulitzer Prize for an Autobiography. The memoirs were later adapted for screen in a movie of the same title in 1999 under Paramount Pictures.

Fans can follow this year’s reality series Big Brother Africa 3 on DStv Compact and DStv Premium Bouquet Channel 198 as well as on DStv Mobile
